You got a friend in me Empty You got a friend in me

Tue Apr 16, 2019 7:03 pm

Two households, both alike in dignity. In fair New Rome is where we set our scene.
Long time best friends Sam Reid and William Lockwood end up in real estate together, they’ve gone passed their glory days, but still have the urges to relive them, so what’s better than owning property next to each other? There’s this quaint cul de sac on Augustus Avenue, where they would make their homes and make their homes they did.

You see, Sam Reid would eventually go on to live in this cul de sac with his two sons, Augustine and Lachlan. All the while William Lockwood would go on to have two daughters, Juliana and Delilah.

It was only naturally having two dads that are close as friends would force you to either hate each other or like each other. A little bit of both could be seen happening, as you can see, Delilah was slightly younger than the rest of the kids in the neighbourhood which in a way made her a natural born target. Five year old Delilah would frequent in wearing pigtails and they were basically her signature at that age, until something forced her to not want to wear them anymore.

Delilah to this day tries not to wear pigtails, nothing would happen, but back when she was five years old a certain Reid boy would constantly pull on her pigtails. It was like those boys that couldn’t keep their hands to themselves in kindergarten, or it was just young boys that didn’t realize that pulling on someone’s hair hurt. That’s when Delilah wouldn’t tell on him or do anything back, she didn’t want to hurt him. One conversation still stuck in her head.

“Well why don’t you just do it back if it hurts?” He’d asked her and she’d just shy away from the conversation. “If someone hurts you, you hurt them back...Like this.” Lanny would say before he pulled on her hair again and then he’d grab her hand and make it punch himself. “See?”

“I can’t.” Delilah would say shaking her head. “Well you just did.” He’d retort. “That’s because you made me!” Delilah said and pulled her arm back to herself. “Well, if someone hurts you...Tell me!”

“Why?”

“Well if you wont hurt them back, I will!”

From there it’d seem a pact was made for the rest of their childhood because around the age of seven years old Delilah would be playing soccer in the neighbourhood with the rest of the kids. Her dad said it would be a good way to get out there and meet more people and just Lachlan and Augustine. She would have argued that her and Skye Maddox were starting to hang out more and more these days. She had gone over a couple times, but never had a sleepover yet.

Sports wasn’t exactly the strongest point for Delilah, she tried really hard to be good at it, but it just didn’t happen. Just as Delilah was starting to gain confidence and had the ball in front of her kicking it forward as she was going to try and get a goal, she felt someone trip her. The young brunette hit the ground and felt the ball bounce off her head as it started to go the other way. “Hey!” Delilah called out after the dark haired girl known as Kirsten. Instead of doing anything about it, Delilah could feel the tears well up in her eyes.

Before Kirsten could get her ultimate victory though, the pact they made a couple years ago seemed to take effect, because Lachlan would be seen tripping Kirsten back and snickering about it. It was a small moment of relief and from that moment she knew Lachlan truly had her back and she wanted to have his when it came time for it, but would that happen? He was such a strong boy from what she could tell.

Their friendship wasn’t just Delilah getting hurt and Lachlan hurting them back for her, they also just spent a lot of time together in general. Usually they would have family game nights that really just consisted of the four kids playing clue and monopoly a lot. In clue Delilah would always play as Mrs.Peacock and Lachlan would always play as Mr.Green. Back then Juliana seemed to win clue a lot, something Delilah was always jealous of, but it just gave her something to look up to. In monopoly Delilah and Lachlan would usually win. They would cheat and play together to beat their older siblings. Delilah and Lachlan would pool their money together and buy everyone property they could so they could make the most money possible and they eventually forced Augustine and Juliana to go bankrupt.

At the age of nine they would watch movies together. Lachlan wanted to watch the more adult like movies such as Step Brothers or Zombieland. Delilah wanted to watch movies like Spiderwick Chronicles or Tangled. Eventually they would have to make a compromise and that compromise would be the movie Mamma Mia. It wasn’t so much of a compromise for Delilah, but it was a massive one for Lachlan. So together they would watch Mamma Mia, where Delilah would try to learn the words to the songs so she could sing along. It was all good because in a years time Lachlan would get her back and maybe her compromise to go see 21 Jump Street in theatres. They just got Sam Reid to take them in, but Sam Reid left before the movie even started, he’d only slip back in for the last few minutes so he could walk out with them.

It started at the age of twelve, where they would hear their fathers talk about them eventually dating when they were a bit older. They had plans of them getting married and they just seemed so excited about it. Well two twelve year olds would naturally thing it was gross, but even as they got a little older and they heard about it they’d wrinkle up their faces, luckily their older siblings started to date and that took the heat off of them and they could just focus on being the friends that they’ve always been. From time to time you can hear them call each other Liles and Lanny.
