Veronica was in her first semester of school at NRU. When she turned 18 in the spring, she finished her service to the legion and took a summer just getting ready for school. Her and Levi, her twin brother, took a lot of time surfing, even though he was still serving with the legion. It was nice to feel like they were back home in Australia in a way. Between surfing and the time they spent at the New Rome Country Club, thanks to the agreement their family had made with the Barnes family to kind of trade memberships to their resorts, they could almost be back home.

Now, things were totally changing again like they did in 2013 when they moved to the United States. Veronica was all over the place trying to find her footing in school. Even though she had some interning experience in journalism, she still was worried that she wouldn't succeed here.

On this Wednesday at 9 am, Veronica was sitting in her intro to print journalism course. She was starting to recognize people in the class, but she hadn't started to learn anyone's name. Veronica recognized a brown haired girl who seemed to be doing pretty well in class so far, or at least had answered a lot of the professors questions well. The daughter of Salacia smiled at her and set her backpack down on the ground.

It was fall of 2020, a year Delilah never thought she could entirely get through. With everything that happened in the last year or so, life had been hectic. When it came to decide whether to continue her service in the legion to go on to complete all ten years or to go to school, Delilah had chosen what most would have considered to be the easy way out. Delilah didn't want to be tied to everything that happened and she didn't want to be reminded of the whirl wind time that her and her friends had.

Going to school was a fresh start. Moving out of the Lockwood house she grew up in had been a fresh start in itself too. She kicked her grandmother Helena out so she could rent the house out. It wasn't like that entirely, just her grandmother had her own place to stay back in the UK and Delilah was tired of being treated the way she had been, so renting the house out was her best choice. It meant she had to move everything to storage and move what she did want into her one bedroom loft, but she quite enjoyed it.

It was nice going to school, it distracted her from the fact that Bear had moved on form the real world and it distracted her from various other things. Ultimately at this point Dr.Burke was telling her she should make friends and that spending all her time with Oliver and Skye wasn't beneficial when they both also led busy lives. Something about needing more and new social interactions.

Delilah had already been seated in her seat as she had taken out her notebook, pens, and highlighters. She watched as the girl she had seen in the class a few times smile at her so she offered a smile back, "How are you liking the course so far?" Was this how you small talked? Delilah could talk to a tree in truth, but starting conversation and breaking the ice was always a little difficult.

Veronica pulled a leather bound notebook out of her bag along with a Pilot G2 series pen 0.07 mm. When she was in primary school and started learning about journalism from the English teacher who ran the paper there, that was the exact notebook and pen combo that he used. Ever since, she had ordered the same exact notebook and pen. Without it, it didn't feel like reporting.

The last thing the Australian had expected was for the girl that she recognized to talk to her. She was an extremely social person, so it wasn't outside of the range of how she acted to do that, but she had learned most people weren't quite the same. Veronica turned her head to the side and pushed a strand of black hair behind her ear.

"I'm enjoying it. I have a bit of print journalism experience, but it's interesting to see it from the more definition and education side. It's been pretty easy, though." Veronica replied. Her voice was soft and her Australian accent laced her words. "How about you? You seem to know a lot." Veronica added, sweetly. Ever since leaving the structure of camp and the legion and cohorts, she felt like it was harder to meet people, especially people similar to her. Maybe this could be a friend.

"I'm Veronica Waller, by the way."
