Allen Rogers Empty Allen Rogers

Fri Mar 01, 2019 9:44 pm
Name:Allen Rogers
Gender:Male
Age: 15
Sexuality: Hetro-Sexual

Personality:Quiet and reserved, Allen enjoys the peace and tranquility that often comes from the strawberry fields, or his own cabin when no one else is there. He tends to be overly cautious with people, and he shows an abundant lack of caution with anything else, always eager to try something new just to say he did. He considers himself a jack of all trades, master of none.
Flaws: A bit too reserved, he tends to lean more on the anti social side, preferring the company of certain animals.Because of this he also tends to be a bit suspicious of people who come to him out of the blue, often resulting in a quirked eyebrow at best, and a complete shut down in communications at worst. Because of his closed off nature, he misses most of the subtler social cues. Unless someone is being particularly blunt about their feelings towards him, whether positive or negative, he will always default to assuming the worst. He has the unfortunate habit of wandering off on his own and either getting lost or getting into trouble.
Eye color: Amber, almost yellow, one might say honey colored.
Hair description: Messy and unkempt, though not overly long. Brown in color.
Height: 5 foot 9 inches
Skin tone: Dark tanned, outdoorsy
Ethnicity: Caucasian.
Body structure: Thin and lanky

Place of Birth: Clifton, New Jersey, USA.
Mortal Parent: Amanda Rogers
God Parent: Aristaeus
Abilities: Communication and command of pollinating  animals, though he has the best results with bees. Encouraging the growth of fruiting trees.
Powers: Can summon a swarm of pollinators ( bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, bats, etc) from a great distance. The longer he ‘calls’ the more he can draw to him. His upper limit for range is usually around a mile. He can keep the call up for half an hour if need be, but that drains him so much that he'll need a long nap and a good meal after. He can do this upwards of 5 times a day, with rests in between. Minor Botanokinesis, this takes much more out of him, he can't hold a candle to any child of Demeter and often finds himself passing out if he tries to over exert himself.
Pets: A small beehive kept in a nice secluded spot near his cabin.

History:From an early age, Allen didn’t really care for people as a general rule. He was always made fun of in school, starting when, at age 7 he brought in a block of homemade cheese for show and tell and explained how he had made it. The boys picked on him and sometimes their teasing got physical, the girls looked down their noses at him, sometimes pitying him, sometimes ridiculing him. By the age of 8 Allen found himself alone and he began to retreat inward.

His heart calcified, and he became, from all outward appearances, dead to the world. He drifted through life, zombie like, passing through his school days in relative peace and wandering his hometown during the afternoons. His mother, Amanda, worried about him, but there wasn’t much she could really do. She couldn’t force the other kids to play nice with him...all she could really do was watch and worry.

Allen began to develop more peculiar interests, he began making kites during the summer to fly alone, he experimented with recipes which Amanda would have no choice but to try (most weren’t bad but he had a habit of making pies way too sweet), he’d explore the woods and make small dams in streams, he’d even once tried to catch a hummingbird with a homemade trap.

This all came to a head during the fall, just before his 15th birthday when a new student arrived at his school. The boy was odd, short and stocky, with a pair of braces on either leg and walking with the aid of a pair of crutches. Naturally, such fresh meat drew the school yard bullies like rabid dogs. Not that he let them pick on him for long. Those crutches were enough to leave nasty bruises on most of the bullies, and they soon learned to stay clear of the limping young man. Allen watched as his former tormentors finally got their comeuppance at the new boy’s hands. He neither helped or hindered the beating, he just observed, feeling no small feeling of satisfaction. But it seemed just by being present when it happened, he had drawn the hobbling boy’s attention. The boy went out of his way from that day onward to try to talk with Allen. Allen, as was his custom by this point, tuned him out and tried to leave him far behind him whenever possible.

Unlike anyone else, and far more surprising to Allen given the boy’s disability, he just kept cropping up; When he went for a walk in the woods, there he was walking towards him from a new trail, when he went to the library during study hall to get some work done, he’d hold the door open for him and follow him in, when he’d wile away the hours in one of his favorite kite flying fields, the boy’s shadow would fall over him.

It was there, during one of his lounging periods, with a kite overhead, that Allen finally found out what was really going on. It happened by chance really; he glanced in the right direction, at just the right time, and he caught a glimpse of the brown fur poking out just above the sock. His stalker didn’t really have an explanation at first, but after several days of pestering, being more talkative than he had been in a very long time, Allen got him to spill the beans. The boy explained that he was a satyr, sent out to follow the scent of a demigod in the area, Allen himself. He then explained that there was a place for demigods, just like him, where they could be safe, live freely, and learn more about themselves and each other. To Allen, it felt more like one of those explanations parents give to kids to explain why older dogs were no longer around.

His mother, upon hearing the satyr’s tale, sighed, and said “I...your father warned me this might happen…” Amanda had known for a long time that she had had a relationship with something otherworldly...she had assumed for most of her life that he had been an eccentric magician or in her wildest dreams, she had imagined him as a wizard. Never had she considered him a god.

“Well that was just fine for your father” she said with a small smile. “He always found it a bit funny, to tell you the truth. But when we found out I was expecting...he warned me that one day you might have to go away. Just for a bit, to find yourself. He was always saying things like that, he was all about experimenting, trying new things, and finding the best you you can be...that’s why I wasn’t too surprised when he left. He was a free spirit, your dad…” She sighed sadly and ruffled Allen’s hair. That night, Allen was packed and ready to leave. He gave his mother a brief hug goodbye, and hopped on the next bus for new york and whatever lay ahead of him.

Notes: He gets along fine with the wood nymphs, though those of fruit bearing trees or grape plants seem to blush around him a lot...he has no idea why.

Wonderful history! Could you add a couple more sentences to personality? Also add some limitations in for his powers. How far can he call the pollinators from? How long can he do this for? How many times per day? Other than that it looks good!
