Cold Times in a Summer Forest Empty Cold Times in a Summer Forest

The son of Boreas ran through the forest with reckless abandon. He was fine, he wasn’t emotional, he wasn’t running away from anything. But rather, he was excited to run around into the forest and just connect with nature, Naya ran with him, the small fox kit keeping up at his feet. He laughed as he ran through the trees, his sneakers hitting into the soft earth with a feverish energy that one gets when they're excited to explore something new. He wanted to explore everything this camp had to offer, and to August, the forest seemed like a great place to start.

Eventually, August did tire out from running around in the forest, inspecting every little thing that he could find. He came across a glade within the forest, at its heart sat a fallen log, hallow and large enough for a person to crawl through if they tried. August sat on this log and wiped at his forehead, flinging the little bits of frost that froze on his skin due to his sweat. Naya laid down on the ground at his feet, panting from tiredness and overheating. August places his feet on either side of Naya, surely the cold radiating from him would help cool her down a bit.

He looked up and around with a smile. Summer in the forest surely made the place look lively, he sighed and closed his eyes. Taking in the earthy air in deep long breaths, at least out there in the forest he could at least relax well.

This place was insane! One would say that being here for a few days would make thing easier but no. Their teacher was a horse! There were women in the trees and in the lake and apparently there were flying horses they could learn to fly on! How was that normal?! And swordfight? Don't even start with that...
Tim needed some time to breath and the forest seemed like the right place. Yes, he was told that it can be dangerous, but he had his bow and was a bit cocky right now since... his dad was apparently Apollo - the god of healing and prophecy. That was a fairly cool thing, wasn't it?! He was slowly walking through the forest and it felt almost like being back home. There was a forest like this very close to his house and when he needed to think he always went there. It helped him think...
He didn't really watch where he was going when he suddenly walked behind a tree and saw a person sitting on a log.
"Uhm... hello..." he said surprised.

August looked down to see a red-headed boy, their orange hair reflecting the sunlight just about as well as August's white hair would. The son of Boreas gave the lad a smile, "Oh hello! What might bring you out here?" August spoke. August looked into the blue eyes of the boy who had just stumbled onto the scene, only to shake his head and looked back at the boy, "Sorry, my name is August."

The Fox kit Naya looked up from her rest position, she gave a happy bark and wagged her bushy tail behind, stirring up the plant life that grew there, she got up and padded over the boy, excitedly wagging her tail for a new person to interact with. She stood on her hind legs and rested her forepaws on the legs of the newcomer, looking up at them a playful twinkle in their eye.

"Trying to escape all.... that." he made a gesture in the direction of the camp.
"Nice to meet you August, I am Tim... " the young redhead smiled nervously at his fellow camper. Only then did he notice the animal next to August. Tim wasn't exactly an animal expert but this one seemed nice. A bit less once it came closer stood in front of him.
"Nice animal... it doesn't bite, does it?" he asked just to be sure. Tim wasn't exactly the best with animals well, unless the animals were cats, he liked cats.

August watched as the boy made a gesture in the direction of the rest of Camp Halfblood saying that they were trying to escape it all. Honestly, I can understand that. He nodded in an effort to show his understanding.
August laughed as Tim seemed to become nervous at Naya, who was just a baby fox, but it was completely understandable after all, not many people have foxes as companions, "No no, Naya doesn't bite. She's very nice and friendly, she acts like some weird cat-dog hybrid which makes sense, cause she's a fox." August said smiling at the redheaded Tim.

Tim chuckled a little. It was nice to meet someone that understood.
"Don't take me wrong - being a half-blood is nice and... who doesn't want to feel special but it's just too... eh... I don't know. Too much too quickly I guess," he tried to explain.
"I am not great with animals, never had one. But it's a nice fox." he liked animals just wasn't good with them. His mother was quite allergic so no pets. But he always wanted one.
