Augustine Requiem ~ Son of Boreas Empty Augustine Requiem ~ Son of Boreas

Sat Mar 16, 2019 1:29 am
Name: Augustine Requiem
Gender: Male
Age: 13 (Halloween being his date of birth)
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Personality: Upon usual first introductions, one might note the general gentleness and kindness of him. Whether it be how he gingerly holds objects in a light grip or the strong love he would treat an animal with, it is unmistakable that these are a few traits of his complex personality. The general love and fun that he radiates is intoxicating to others and would give the idea of a puppy personified into a person. He tries his absolute best to make sure others feel loved and wanted, even if that’s not how he feels about himself. But it’s something that gives August closure that he’s doing his best to help others in any way that he can, just so he feels like he has a purpose other than just existing for no other reason.

All the way down to his loyalty to others he feels close too, and his general acquaintances, but of course due to his age and his upbringing, August is extremely naive when it comes to most social situations, and doesn’t quite know how to sympathize fairly well with others, but that doesn’t stop him from trying his best. The inner drive for him to do as he pleases, to do things for himself and not others is what exactly drives his almost teenage rebellious nature. When coupled with his curious drive to learn anything that he can, is a recipe that spells disaster for those who want and do try to order him around. Blatantly disregarding uninteresting orders and tasks set for him by those of lower standing, to take objectives that are of a much more interesting nature. Of course, this does drive him to get in trouble sometimes but due to his standing in the world, he tries his best to curb this urge and do as he is told.

Also due to his odd predicament with his powers, he has developed the habit of bottling up all of his emotions, thoughts, and opinions within himself. Holding them all in and the only relief that curbs that stress being what he tells Naya and those few moments of reprieve of him sitting alone with nothing but his thoughts, but otherwise it just sits blatantly in his mind, festering and growing, until one small thing sets him off resulting in a large emotional outburst that would be akin to a temper tantrum. At heart, August is an utter child, probably due to the fact that he was never given any chances to grow as a person. Although there is no one certain reason for this.

A perfectionist to a fault, due to the constant pressure that he’s under, expected to excel at everything that he tries his hand at. Often chastised for performing poorly or failing at the task that he was given. As such, he pushes himself to perform better, not of his own accord, but only to avoid chastisement for his failure. Increasing the emotions that he just bottles up, his emotions of feeling he lacked control of his own life, but it’s orchestrated by the gods for him, and by other members of the camps.

One thing that he absolutely loves that does and will express to anyone is nature and animals. His love of nature is indiscriminate, to the rocks in the lowest canyon, to the forests of the even flat plains, to the high mountainous snowy terrain of the mountain ranges. As well of the flora and fauna that resides in those places. August feels a sort of kinship with nature, it’s not something that he can explain, but generally, he’ll do what he can to protect it from unnecessary harm. But usually only when he’s there to witness it, but he does spend a large portion of his time out and about ‘communing’ with nature.

The thrill of taking a risk is not unknown to August and he is willing to test his courage by taking bigger and bigger risks, and in turn, he doesn’t think things through, much preferring to wing it rather than taking the time to think things through. He doesn’t believe that he’s courageous, but he loves testing his mettle and quick wit. He can’t handle a monotone boring lifestyle or event, he likes excitement and has a need to be simulated. Which just further along his tendency to not think things through. Although when this nature comes into contact with a situation where August is trying his best to play as his version of a hero, can result in many different outcomes. As he tries his best to make others feel better about themselves and everything in general, as well as 'saving' and helping anyone that he can, can produce a worse situation than the one that was already present. For instance, when there is a pet stuck up in a tree somehow, in his attempt to save it, he himself might end up stuck up there with the pet or end up accidentally hurting the animal. Of course, there is the chance that he does end up actually helping someone out, but those tend to be a few and far between as simple solutions that August often glosses over when just jumping into action without a thought.

Appearance: At a glance, one could tell that with August, there was something amiss. His snow-white hair is often speckled in rime frost, which in turn only pronounces the icy blue of his eyes. His lean body is lightly muscled with small lean muscles and lacks the light padding of fat on his body, pronouncing the outlines of his ribs and collarbones, which quite frankly could cause a person with a sense of maternal instinct to give worry. He stands at a short three foot nine inches, (1.1 meters) making him much shorter than the other children his age, which puts him at a disadvantage for most physical activity. Which he more than makes up for with his mental prowess. Due to the godly aspect that resides in all demigods that runs rampant under his pale skin the scent that permeates August’s skin is the earthy smell of cold petrichor and the needles of the tall pine trees that are sprinkled throughout the northern regions.

One thing one might find August doing would be snapping his fingers, something that had become quite the annoying habit to others but does give him some kind of relief from his high energy state. Which is a preferable habit rather than expelling magical energy from his hands. August stands straight and his gait is filled with playful confidence. Much how people would correlate with the energy and the adorableness of a small puppy. Although, once he feels intimidated or below another person, his demeanor will change. Slightly hunching over and averting his gaze. Mostly looking down, almost as if he was guilty in a sense or just incredibly shy. Often resorting to rubbing his arms rather than snapping, for fear as such a thing would be considered as an insult and worth a punishment.

August’s fashion style is rather linear without much, if any, change. He often wears a soft blue jacket with a mono-colored teeshirt, paired with jeans and a set of regular old sneakers.

Place of Birth: New Rome, Califonia, USA
Mortal Parent: Calista Requiem
God Parent: Boreas, God of Winter, Cold, and the North Wind

Abilities (doesn't use energy to do):
The North’s Touch: August feels much colder the touch, and is much more resilient to the cold than most people.
The South’s Revenge: August is much more susceptible to the heat than others.
Navigation by Wind: August automatically knows his bearings, know’s what the cardinal directions are, and where the wind is flowing and how fast it is. With a little extra concentration he can also tell if there will be a storm the next day, but otherwise, he will get no extra information.
Fractured Godly Soul: August’s godly aspect that makes him a demigod is damaged and unstable, which causes his powers and abilities to spasm whenever he is emotionally charged, sometimes it’s a weak effect such as the lowering of a few degrees and a gentle breeze, or much stronger, such as the onset sudden winter weather, making it snow, regardless of weather conditions beforehand.
The Wind’s Eyes: August can see through the Mist.

Powers (uses energy to do):
Wind’s Concent: August can manipulate the air around him, bringing the temperature down the point where mist can form or blowing it around and using it as a tool. He can do this for 4 posts with a 4 post cool down. This can be activated by Fractured Godly Soul.
The North’s Blessing: August can freeze most objects and water by buffeting it with cold wind or stealing it away through touch. He can do this for 2 posts with a 4 post cool down.
Breaking Point: As a last-ditch effort, August can pour all of his strength into on blizzard that would swirl around him in a maelstrom, this is a strong wind storm and that lowers the temperature to the point of freezing this will last around 3 posts but can only be used once per topic. It effectively disables all other powers for that topic unless he can somehow get time to rest for it.

Pets (if any): Naya, an Arctic Fox Kit

History (four sentences or more): August was born into New Rome by one of the many citizens that lived there, Calista Requiem. She bore a child of Boreas, the Greek God of the North Wind and winter. Calista’s family was Greek in origin and worshipped the Greek Pantheon much more strongly than they did the Roman. Calista wasn’t sure what attracted Boreas to her, but she did her best to raise his child, whom she named August, to honor that he was born into Roman society, despite being a Greek Demigod. He was raised with the knowledge that he was a demigod, but his mother withheld that information so Boreas could claim him as his own when the time came. August went to school in New Rome and grew up there, he was instructed not to tell anyone that he was a Demigod, him being Greek was a potential danger despite the strides the two cultures have taken to become much more friendly with each other. Calista wasn’t sure if the Romans would take it as an insult or not. So August grew up as a kid with a secret. He was good and never once told another soul about his divine ancestry.

When August was 12, he snuck out of his home one night. It was nearing his 13th birthday when he was going to head to Camp Half-blood for his training, so he had a bag full of the essentials to get him started at the Greek camp. While he was out sneaking about New Rome at night, trying to see if he could get a feel for what the nightlife of the place was like, he saw a cloaked figure running down an alleyway. August being as curious as he was decided to follow them to see what they were up to. August tailed the mysterious figure though alleyways until he came upon a secret trapdoor hidden behind a old temple, where the figure had disappeared to. He went down inside, wanting to know more about what was down there. As soon as he entered the secret place August was blindfolded and roughly dragged down and bound to a table. August has stumbled right into the lair of the cult of the Roman Viduus, the god who separated soul and body after death. There leading the ritual was a child of Viduus, who felt like they deserved much more than what they had. The ritual drew on the power of Viduus to see if they could separate the divine spark that all demigods held within them thanks to their divine parents.

The ritual didn’t go as planned and ended with the cultists unconscious, and August’s divine spark left unstable. It was damaged and partially separated from his soul, causing the divine power that August inherited from his father, Boreas, to leak into his body and surroundings. His brown hair turned white and his brown eyes turned into a pale blue. His skin tone lost color as it became suffused with the power of cold, taking on the appearance of someone stuck in a half-frozen state. August fled home, his powers freezing the moisture in the air around him, leaving a trail of fog in his wake. Once home, his mother panicked decided that now they must leave for Camp Half-Blood and that she would escort him to the nearest airport so he could fly to Manhatten. Once the plane ticket was purchased and August sent over the other side of the United States he felt that he wouldn’t soon be able to return home, his state of being a constant danger to everyone around him, do to his godly aspect becoming volatile with the damage it had sustained.

When he had landed to in Manhatten he was met with a Satyer, who escorted him the rest of the way to Camp. Once there he was claimed by Boreas as his child and the head of the Camp, Chiron, had set about trying to find out some method to fix the damage to his soul. August was set to find his own solution to the problem, but no one is quite sure if it can be fixed.
