Personality: Upon an initial interaction with Thurmond, one may assume that he has a stick up his ass. Although this is partially true, the son of Salus is only stoic when in the infirmary of Camp Jupiter or training. When he's off duty, Thurmond is more relaxed, but still keeps himself aware of his surroundings and the well-being of his fellow Romans. At times Thurmond may become rigid especially when it comes to following the rules -- with health codes. If a sign says "No chewing gum", he makes sure anyone who's with him spits it out. Thurmond can be seen giving offerings to the god of boundaries, Terminus, as well as attending his mother's and Apollo's temples. While in Camp Jupiter, he mainly goes by "Vitae" with only a select few gaining the right to call him Thurmond. Because the welfare of New Rome is political, Thurmond is a strong propionate of universal health care and reparations for African Americans.

Danger Detection: This was the first ability that manifested while in New Rome. Thurmond has the innate ability to detect immediate danger. For instance, if someone is allergic to peanut butter and they are about to take a bite out of a Macedonian nut cookie, Thurmond will fell a tingling in the back of his throat and swat it out of their hand.
Bonus Salus: With his mother being the goddess of personal health and her association with the Greek goddess Hygieia, Thurmond's overall hygiene is always impeccable. He can go days without taking a shower or brushing his teeth and he'd still smell like amazing. Granted, he never leaves the bathhouse without having taking care of his hygiene.

History (four sentences or more): Born to a professor of African American studies at Norfolk State University in Virginia and the Roman goddess Salus, Thurmond has always found his niche in Healthcare and politics. Even as a little kid, prior to his “adventure” with Lupa, has been involved with the welfare and safety of people and especially blacks. His father would bring him to work on the days he was off at work and sit in on his lectures. The first time that his father, who was aware of who his mother was, realized that Thurmond was different was when he was able to save his cousin from eating a cookie that said it was gluten free what it actually wasn't. It was later revealed that his cousin, Tasha, had celiac disease. Not long after that, the Wolves of Lupa came in the night and took eleven-year-old Thurmond to the House. He trained there for six months before being sent to Camp Jupiter. Although he didn't have a letter of recommendation, he was placed in the third cohort. This was due to his sponsor, a Ghanian daughter of Concordia, speaking up for him. Later, she revealed to him that the reason why -- she saw potential in him. Later, that was revealed as he went from being on probatio, to moving up the ranks to Optio. Now, he seeks to become a Centurion alongside his close friend, Dean Basilone.
